DRC faces deadly Ebola resurgence amid worsening humanitarian crisis

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is grappling with a new Ebola outbreak in the northeastern province of Ituri, including the health zones of Rwampara, Mongwalu and Bunia. The Bundibugyo strain of the Ebola virus is highly lethal and is spreading rapidly, with two cases also confirmed in Uganda. The World Health Organization has declared the outbreak a "public health emergency of international concern" after suspected cases and deaths were reported. Prevention, early detection and isolation of cases are critical due to the lack of specific treatment available.
