Germany's SPD open to Putin proposal of Schröder mediating on Ukraine

German foreign policy experts from the Social Democratic Party are calling for a serious assessment of Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal for former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder to be used as a mediator in the war in Ukraine. Experts believe every offer must be seriously assessed to determine its reliability and that Europe should have a seat at the negotiating table. A first test of credibility would be an extended ceasefire on both sides.
