Govt proposes emission rule changes to boost ethanol blends, flex-fuel vehicles

The Union ministry of road transport and highways has proposed amendments to vehicle emission rules to widen the scope for higher blends and alternative fuels. The proposed changes cover fuels including E85, E100, B100 biodiesel and hydrogen-CNG combinations, allowing flex-fuel and pure biofuel vehicles across all categories. The proposals are open for a 30-day public consultation, after which the government will take a final decision.
