NTA’s ₹448.21-crore surplus in spotlight after NEET-UG 2026 paper leak

The National Testing Agency accumulated a surplus of ₹448.21 crore from examination fees collected over its first five years of operation. The agency collected ₹3,512.98 crore in application fees between 2018-19 and 2023-24, while spending ₹3,064.77 crore on conducting examinations. NTA operates without ongoing government funding, relying on fee income, and has not complied with a parliamentary panel's recommendation to produce an annual report detailing its activities.
