Old footage of volcanic activity falsely shared as 2026 Mount Dukono eruption

An old video of Mount Dukono's eruption has circulated online, falsely claiming it shows hikers fleeing the summit on May 8, 2026. The footage was actually taken in August 2024 by a local guide using a drone from the base of the volcano. The video was initially shared by Australian broadcaster 9 News Adelaide and British newspaper The Telegraph in August 2024, before being shared again with false claims of it showing the 2026 eruption.
