Plans in works to revive central rural job scheme, PMAY in West Bengal

The Union rural development ministry is discussing ways to revive two flagship rural welfare schemes, the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) and Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), in West Bengal. The schemes were frozen after the state government was accused of irregularities. The revival is expected to unlock over 3,082.52 crore in frozen MGNREGS liabilities and pending PMAY-G dues. The rules and guidelines for both schemes have been finalised and will be rolled out soon
