Trans community mounts challenge to amended law

Trans community members are challenging the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, in various courts across the country. Petitions have been filed in the Karnataka, Kerala, and Delhi high courts, as well as the Supreme Court. Trans individuals, including those who have undergone name and identity changes, claim the amended law has derailed their plans and left them feeling uncertain about their existence.
