Liquor prices revised in Karnataka after new alcohol tax system implemented

Karnataka's excise department has implemented a new Alcohol-in-Beverage (AIB)-based excise duty structure, aiming to rationalise liquor prices and make alcohol cheaper for consumers. The new policy has reduced liquor tax slabs from 16 to 8 and deregulated government-administered price fixation, allowing producers to decide product placement within slabs based on market considerations. Revised rates have been notified for popular Indian Made Liquor (IML) brands and beer brands, varying according to slab structures, pack sizes, and alcohol content.
