Man’s death reignites concern over re-entry of unlawful money lending businesses

A 52-year-old man from Kuttikkattoor died under unnatural circumstances, allegedly due to threats from a suspected gang of illegal moneylenders. His family members claimed attempts were made to extort ₹3.5 lakh from him for borrowing ₹15,000 a year ago. They sought police intervention to examine the deceased's mobile phone and identify those behind the alleged loan trap. The family alleged that Krishnan had paid more than the amount he borrowed.
