New details on freeing of whale stranded off Germany coast

A humpback whale was rescued from Germany's Baltic coast and transported in a water-filled cargo vessel towards the North Sea. The whale was towed by a tugboat and bumped against the barge during transport, sustaining scratches. A barrier net was removed, allowing the whale to swim freely, but an initial release attempt was unsuccessful. A second attempt succeeded, with the whale swimming away after taking a breath. The release took place around 70 kilometres off Skagen in northern Denmark.
