Solar infra helps India meet record 256GW power demand

India comfortably met its peak power demand of 256.1 GW on a single day, with solar energy contributing nearly 57 GW or 22% of total generation. At the time of peak demand, solar plants and rooftop systems generated about 81 GW, accounting for one-third of the total generation of 242 GW. Coal-fired plants continue to provide the baseload, while non-fossil sources like solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear have increased significantly in the power mix.
